Carpooling

Carpooling is when two or more people drive to work or a common destination together in a privately-owned vehicle. Carpooling can be between friends, and coworkers, or can be arranged for commuters traveling in the same direction. The ConnectingVA app allows you to find others in your area who are commuting to locations near your destination. 

Vanpooling

Vanpooling is a group of five to 15 people who rent or lease a van. One or more people in the group are designated as drivers. Every rider pays a monthly fee based on costs. The vanpool company provides insurance, vehicle maintenance and repairs, and a backup vehicle if the leased vehicle becomes unavailable. Vanpooling makes it easy to drive to work without needing a personal vehicle. Some employers may even sponsor vanpools for employees upon request.
